How do you capture the voice or sound ?

There are two options and both of them are easy! You can call us at 713.715.8254 and we'll record you on the spot. Or you can email us a copy of a sound file you have recorded yourself. If you have special needs regarding audio capture or audio extraction, please call to find out more.

What form of audio files do you accept?

WAV, AIFF, AU MP2, MP3, and AUD. These are some of the most commonly used files. As noted in the above post, we would be happy to answer specific questions about sound capture.

How much of a difference can really be seen between two different voices?

A great amount actually. Everyone's voice is unique and therefore creates a unique sound wave. Most people are surprised to see how different their voice looks from that of other people.

What kind of materials are used to create the canvases?

Every canvas is printed using the giclee printing method on artist's grade canvas using archival grade inks. The final print has a protective coating to protect against fading and moisture.

What kind of materials are used to create the Name Prints?

Every Name Print is printed on natural white, matte, ultra smooth, 100% cotton rag, acid free archival paper, and then set in a sleek, black vector frame.

How is the Desktop Sound Portrait printed?

Rather than printed on canvas, we print your Portrait image straight onto a piece of glass. The piece comes with smooth edges and stand which fits in the back. See what it looks like here

Can I order custom sizes not listed?

Yes! We can print pieces up to 55 x 100 (inches). Send us and email and we'd be happy to give you a quote!

Personalized Portrait Options

Can I customize the color and size of my Sound Portrait?

Yes, after all, you are the artist! When you go to the order page, you will be able to select from a variety of sizes and colors. If you are looking for a specific size or color combo that is not listed, we can facilitate that too. Just give us a call or send us an email with what your looking for, and we'll get back to you ASAP with a quote.

Do all Sound Portraits come with text on them?

This is completely up to you. During the ordering process you can choose one of our eight fonts and place up to two lines of text in the bottom right corner, or you can choose no text at all. If you need a further customization with the text options, give us a call and we'll do our best to help you out.

Can I combine more than one separate voice/audio clip onto a single canvas?

Yes! Having multiple voices on one canvas is a great way to make a gift for holidays, events, and special occasions. On our order page we have the option for up to five voices on a single canvas. Do you have more sound clips or voices you want to add? No problem. Contact us and we'll work with you to make the Sound Portrait you're looking for.

Can Sound Portraits be created from a voice speaking a different language?

Si, Oui, はい, Da, 是的, and YES ! If you can speak it and tell us how to write it, we would be happy to print it!

Can Sound Portraits be made from sounds other than voices?

Definitely! As long as it can be recorded, it can be made into a canvas. We can do anything from animal noises, to full length songs, to city sounds. The creative possibilities are limitless. *In keeping with the vision and values of the company, we may refuse to print certain words or sounds. We would be happy to chat about and answer any questions you may have about this.

Do all the canvases come gallery wrapped?

If your shipping address is in the US or Canada, then YES, every canvas comes as a gallery wrap. This means that after printing your Sound Portrait, we will stretch it around a 1.5 inch thick, internal wood frame. The final result is a clean and sharp piece of art. During Step 6 of the order process you can also choose to have your wrapped canvas set in a floating frame for an additional cost. *Regarding international orders, see Shipping FAQ.

What is a floating frame?

When you choose the floating frame, we will start by creating a gallery wrapped canvas of your Sound Portrait. Then we build a black wood frame to fit around the outside. It is called a floating frame because there is a space between the wrap and frame, giving the appearance that the canvas is floating inside. The final look is clean and contemporary.

How do I hang my canvas ?

It's easy! Every wrapped canvas or framed canvas comes standard with a simple beehive style hanging kit and instructions of how to use it.

How can I give a Sound Portrait as a gift?

We believe Sound Portraits make amazing gifts and therefore give you the option to purchase gift certificates. We can email you the gift code via email or send you a tangible gift certificate with the code which you can then give to that special someone in person. To purchase a gift code - look here

Can the print be removed from the Desktop Sound Portrait frame?

Yes! If for some reason you would like to take it out or place it into a different frame, you can easily remove the print from the middle of the magnetic frame.

Can I have multiple voices on a Desktop Sound Portrait?

It depends. Because of the smaller size, options are limited for multiple or extended length audio clips. We'll do our best to accommodate your needs, so feel free to give us a call about what you have in mind.

Can I see my portrait before it's printed?

Yes! In order to make sure that you will be satisfied, we will send you a digital rendering of your canvas for approval. You will have 48 hours to request any changes or edits.

Shipping

How much does it cost to deliver?

Whether you order one canvas or ten canvases, we offer a flat free shipping rate of $15.00 on all domestic orders. Shipping to the UK, Canada, Australia, or South Africa is $40.00, and for all other international orders, the cost is $75.00.

Do you deliver internationally?

Of course! But please note, due to shipping-size regulations, we can't ship the larger size wrapped canvases to some countries. Send us an email listing your desired canvas size to make sure we can accommodate your shipping.

How long do I have to wait for my artwork?

- Personalized Portraits are completed, shipped, and delivered within 3 weeks of your order date.
- The Artistic, College Spirit, & Name Prints should arrive within 5-10 business days of the order date.
